Waiting out a long rain delay at Busch Stadium is worth it for a crowd that yearned to get a look at their favorite legendary players and celebrities.

The speeches of the Golden Globe Awards acceptants and presenters are legendary. Who can ever forget the meltdown Elizabeth Taylor had, when she presented the Golden Globe to Ridley Scott for “Gladiator”? Memorable moments that were broadcast and some behind the scenes coverage made it to some video broadcasting web sites and are viewed many times, like the mentioned tidbit which has over hundred and fifty thousand views. The same amount of interest garnered a misstep by Isaac Mizrahi, the famous couturier, who undoubtedly touched Scarlett Johansson inappropriately and commented all the time on fashion and what not. Speeches always pretended or not to be impromptu, unless the person unfolds a piece of paper, taken out from somewhere, whereby the female winners always have interesting places to hide such things. But the talk goes invariably overtime, the music sets in, which sometimes has absolutely no effect on the talker and sometimes provide for years of ridicule by the entertainment community. The most memorable moments are a plenty, starting with the Best Actress in a TV Drama from 1998, Christine Lahti, who almost missed her own win, being in the bathroom at the moment of pronunciation; to the moment when the Divine Miss M., Bette Midler, offered to show her own golden globes and cupped her breasts in 1980, when accepting the award for “The Rose”. The funniest moments are also very well spread out, beginning with the famous “Rat Pack” storming the stage and taking over the show; Brad Pitt thanking the makers of Kaopectate and thereby forgetting to mention co-stars and then girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow; Sacha Baron Cohen won an award for “Borat” and made a speech that is still the frontrunner on YouTube, hilariously laughing at himself and the whole world and spoofing his own movie; Sally Kirkland offering, after winning the award for “Anna”, to take all the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association home with her; or Hugh Laurie, the “House” star, who professed that he wrote paper bits with hundred seventy two names of people he has to thank and went on to pick three out of his pocket and thank them for the whole bunch. But there are also tearful, private and heartfelt moments to reminiscent, for instance, when Ving Rhames professed that he does not deserve the award, but his fellow nominee Jack Lemmon and simply gave the award to Jack; Edie Falco going up to accept with laryngitis and really remained speechless; up to the current acceptance speech by Mickey Rourke, who joked by thanking his dogs and accepted a friendly finger given by Darren Aronofsky, the director of his “The Wrestler”.
